I have talktalk as my home page (I won't tell you why) and I was surprised to find they had a link to a page of 'beekeeping tips'. It is quite good really!

http://www.talktalk.co.uk/home-garden/g ... eping_tips

Mind you, it did not mention Scotland or EMBA. Kenneth

AND there is a link to the Beehaus that you may have seen, a very full description of the whole thing. I thought it was rather good. K

... and while I'm replying to my own post, why don't I tell you this ...? I was talking to a medically qualified guy originally from South Africa, on hearing that I had bees (I saw them fly yesterday when it was warm, so I still have them!) he told me that he had got this horrible hay fever since being in the UK. He had started to take heather honey on toast every day and this had really done wonders for him. On occasions that he runs out of this honey his hay-fever comes back. I wondered if the fact that heather honey with its higher pollen content may assist more than other honey and he agreed that that could be the case. The fact that heather honey is gathered for only six weeks a year is not too important, the important thing is that he is putting some pollen (any pollen) into his body and this pushes up his resistance to any air borne pollens around. Good one!
